EVENTS RECEIVED FOR GRADING 2004-5

Leagues


This covers the grading season from 1st June 2004 to 31st May 2005.

There are two known omissions, whose results appear to be lost. Not unexpectedly Junior Rapidplay grading has declined, by perhaps 50%, after the introduction of Junior Game Fee. (Junior Standardplay has not been noticeably affected.)

"R" in the list means Rapidplay, and its absence means Standard. Occasionally an event will be marked "SR" if it includes games of both sorts.

Congresses, and other one-off things like friendly matches, come first and are listed by date. Dates may be approximate. Leagues, and other long-term things like club championships, follow alphabetically, usually by County.

Some late results have been included from the 2003-4 season. These include the Preliminary and Quarter-final rounds of the Counties Championships played in April and May 2004. They were deliberately held back until 2004-5 because the policy was that all of the National Stage should go into one season's grading. The policy has changed, and in future all Counties Championships matches will respect the usual cut-off dates for the grading season. The Prelims and Quarter-finals from April and May 2005 will thus also appear in this season's grading.

Bear in mind that no event can be graded unless it pays Game Fee. Most leagues and congresses pay Game Fee, and BCF Grand Prix events in England and North Wales (but not Scotland or South & West Wales) do so as a condition of inclusion in the circuit.

BCF Direct Members can submit their results direct, outside the Game-Fee scheme, for events not played in England. A form is available for this purpose: see the Grading page. For English events, results are not accepted from individual players. Results are provided by organisers, and events are graded whole or not at all.
